I was surfing the web and stumbled upon this comment about the quality of the characters on Moesha and it made me think:
Now granted the scenario with Mo being grounded was a lot deeper than her just going out to The Den or her getting a bad report card. Moesha had been doing a lot of things, in the name of being in love with Q that was hurting her more than not being with him which resulted in her being on punishment "for- like, EVER"! Lol
But when we compare the scenarios, do we think the punishments and repercussions were fair?
I honestly agree that Frank may have been a bit MORE lenient with Myles in particular BECAUSE of the things that were going on and how old he was trying to deal with them. Moesha MOVED OUT... for like 5 months and the family was certainly divided over it all. All that child wanted was his family back together, whole and happy. I just wanna know, who convinced him that weed was the way to go? Who sells a kid WEED??
But Myles and the weed was Frank and Dee being overly concerned about Moesha and completely negligent towards Myles. Understanding that may have caused them to step back and reevaluate how they have been treating him and resulted in guilt.
However, Myles was never grounded for what he had done. Dorian on the other hand, that situation was tumultuous and would only get worse once it was revealed that he was Franks love-child. So he may have felt guilt and decided that was his fault but he did send Dorian's ass to Boot Camp to show him, he wasn't with the bull crap!
But I believe Moesha's punishments were fair. She was breaking rules left and right when it came to Q. I believe he did what was necessary to not have a young parent on his hands.
But, what do you think?
Frank was an asshole. How? Well, for starters, Myles was like 8 and smoking weed and his "punishment" was to go to therapy sessions. But when Moesha got a C on her progress report, Frank flipped out and told her she couldn't see Q anymore, told her she was irresponsible and she got grounded for like ever. He would also flip out whenever she'd ask if she could go to the Den. The girl can't even go listen to poetry and drink smoothies for God's sake?? When Dorian stole a Saturn from Frank's lot and got caught by the cops, and had $5000 on him, Frank was just like, "just tell us where you got the money." WTF?!? He played favorites too much.
